Frequently asked questions:
What is included in the price? We cover all expenses - the cost of raising the hog, transportation to/from the processor, and all butcher/processing costs. The pork you receive is vacuum packaged and frozen in the cuts listed.
Do you have pork bones available? Yes - please contact us if you'd like pork bones for broth and we'll include with the half-hog purchase.
Do you offer half or whole hogs for barbecuing? Not at this time.
How much freezer storage space is required? We recommend about 1 cubic foot of freezer storage space for 30 lbs of pork. Half hog share will take up about 2-3 cubic feet. A household refrigerator with freezer attached usually has about 4-5 cubic feet of freezer space, so this half hog share will take up about half of that.
How much pork is in a whole hog? Live weight: ~280 lbs. Hanging weight of a pasture raised hog is about 70% of that: 200 lbs. After deboning, and trimming, that 200 lbs carcass will produce about 130 lbs of pork. Half hog share is 65 lbs.
