What is so special about our tallow?

Tallow is a natural animal product which makes it easier for our skin to absorb and is more bioavailable than most plant products.  Tallow mimics our skin's natural lipid profile.  Our tallow is sourced from our pasture raised cattle.  By utilizing leaf fat (beef suet) that would otherwise go to waste, our whipped tallow balm supports regenerative practices and promotes a zero-waste approach to skincare.

Where does the name come from?
Farmerette™ honors the women of agriculture who embrace simple, effective, and natural living. Like tending the land with care, our skincare nourishes and restores with pure, time-honored ingredients—free from additives and full of what your skin truly needs.

Does it smell like beef?
Nope! Farmerette™ Whipped Tallow Balm is available in unscented or lightly scented with organic essential oils (lavender and potentially more coming soon!).  The triple rendering process cleans and renders the tallow into a pure, high-quality lipid form that eliminates any odor.  We blend this pure tallow with organic cold-pressed jojoba oil for to make Farmerette Whipped Tallow Balm.  It does not have a beef scent but some folks report that the Plain version smells "earthy" and "natural."

How do I store it?
-Tallow is shelf stable but should be kept in a cool, dark & dry place. It can last up to a year under optimal storage conditions. 
-Tallow should be kept at cool room temperature. Tallow hardens in the refrigerator.
